BIRDMAN (2014)

Birdman

Birdman is an extraordinary film. In fact, it’s extraordinary film-making. Almost playing out like one long continuous scene, this movie about the backstage theatre antics of a once famed movie-star – portrayed by Michael Keaton – is very much art imitating life.

Superbly supported by a wonderful cast – Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis help ground a tale that otherwise flys off to weird and wonderful places.

Some of the best editing seen in recent film history, and the eclectic percussive music by Antonio Sánchez together combine towards an experience that is always visually interesting and mentally challenging.

A once in a generation movie.

score: 9 out of 10.
