Son Of Batman is the 20th in the series of DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Adapting a rather recent storyline from the comics, originally written by Grant Morrison with art by Andy Kuburt, detailing Batman’s discovering of having a son – Damian – and the attempt to train him as the latest Robin.
Talia al Ghul is just as much the centrepiece to this story, with Deathstroke and Killer Croc adding to the mayhem. Various factions are at play, there is no clear indication who the villain is and you may find yourself taking the side of someone you would not have initially considered.
The animation is fluid, DC Comics are producing some of the best in the industry right now. The music by Frederik Wiedmann is great and technically they can be no complaints in the overall production. I really enjoyed this tale and thought the creative team did a great job in condensing the story into something very watchable.
score: 7 out of 10.
p.s: Enough of the Batman movies, tho. At least half of the DC animated original movies have centred or featured Batman, however there are so many more DC characters that are just as deserving of the animated treatment. The fact that there has only been one Wonder Woman movie, thus far (and it was superb too!), is a real shame.
