“Me love you long time” the SoulCalibur game series, from it’s early Soul Blade days on the PS1, through its superb PS2 incarnations, and the reasonably good “IV” game of the series, released back in 2008 on PS3.
I admit that 2D (or 3D) fighting games are NOT my usual gaming preference, yet I’ve always given the likes of Street Fighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat a go at liking them. However, the weapon-emphasise and stylish moves of SoulCalibur has always greatly appealed to me, more.
SoulCalibur V is a game easy to play and doesn’t take too long towards soon mastering. A large roster of characters to choose, with the customization of clothing, accessories and weapons that we’ve come to expect from the franchise.
Sadly, the single-player story mode is limited, disappointing and junk. It’s primary purpose might be craft some combat skill moves or unlock some of the customization items for your characters.
The game truly comes alive in online mode, where you execute your fine-tuned character-specific skills against REAL people. This aspect is where the game has a great chance for much re-playability and long-term use.
I really like the game, and it will be my “go to” game for online player vs player fighting. However, I just wish the off-line component was developed and executed a bit better.
score: 7.5 out of 10.
