SunDoMe volume 4 GN manga

SunDoMe volume 4 GN manga

OK, before I begin looking at Kazuto Okada’s SUNDOME, let’s do a recap..

Volume 1 = “surprisingly heart-felt” (7 out of 10).

Volume 2 = “numerous humiliating situations” (8 out of 10).

Volume 3 = “more than just titillate” (8 out of 10).

So, here we are at volume 4, and according to solicitations prior to release, the final chapter of the series…

and a LOT happens in this volume.  Despite the slow-burn tease that IS the relationship between Hideo and Kurumi, this manga series still manages to pack a lot of story and large variety of situations!

Hideo finds out more about the mystery older man in Kurumi’s life, and after all three of them share an expensive meal together, Hideo decides to get a part-time job to re-pay the mystery man (as well as some spending money…  perhaps to buy a gift for Kurumi?).

In their Sexual progression, Hideo progresses a little bit more, as it seems Hideo’s resistance is slowly breaking.

Overall, this volume was a fun ‘n’ fast read. Again, I make special mention of the English translation by Christine Shilling, as the script is truly funny and brilliant.

The volume appeared to be rushing towards a big, explosive climax, but instead concludes with more questions than answers and with some unresolved threads.

The final page simply leaves us with MORE TO COME…

and indeed, the Yen Press website confirms a volume 5 due for release July 2009.

May this wonderful series NEVER end!

7.5 out of 10.
