Jenna Jameson’s SHADOW HUNTER #2

Posted by TaCk on April 10, 2008

Shadow Hunter #2The second issue of Jenna Jameson’s SHADOW HUNTER is more of the same, with a complex story and stunning art by Mukesh Singh.

Singh’s art is flawless, and continues to be the highlight of this comic book.

The exposition and origin of the Shadow Hunter has taken two issues to complete, so I am hoping that issue three begins moving the series with some action and adventure…

FOUNDATION #4 (of 5)

Posted by TaCk on April 10, 2008

Foundation #4The penultimate issue of The Foundation, published by Boom! Studios.

I’m starting to enjoy the art for this series, it has this washed water-color look which makes for a truly unique appearance on the page.

I still don’t believe the action happens quickly enough in the story, but this issue 4 does lead interestingly well to the finale to come in issue 5.

FX #2 (of 6)

Posted by TaCk on April 10, 2008

FX #2I wasn’t sure if I was going to get this. At the comic book store I initially grabbed it, but almost put it back on the rack, but upon realizing that there was only one other copy on the shelf, I decided to purchase this issue out of fear that it wouldn’t be there a day later!

Issue 2 of FX continues with the same style of the first issue, with traditional story telling and a very corny script. The comic certainly has a “safe” family friendly feel about it.

I do like the expansion of the story with the involvement of our main character’s female friend Vicki, who for me is actually more interesting than Tom.

I’m supporting this series mainly because it’s unlike most other comic books out there today, and is definitely a throwback to the 1980s comic books I read as a teenager. Good fun!

Warren Ellis ANNA MERCURY #1

Posted by TaCk on April 10, 2008

Anna Mercury #1Published by Avatar Press, written by Warren Ellis, ANNA MERCURY #1 is a quick pace romp through a future city filled with airships!

Warren Ellis was my main interest to try out this comic book, but it’s Facundo Percio’s wonderful art which makes reading this such a treat. I get a slight Aeon Flux vibe about the series.

To be honest, a lot happened very quickly in this, but I was starting to get very interested until the dreaded “to be continued” concluded the issue.

I’ll be back for issue 2.
